Welcome to The Mansion on 17th, where luxury meets history. Our beautiful 1890 mansion has been meticulously restored to its original glory, transporting you to a bygone era of elegance and refinement. Nestled in the heart of Galveston's historic East End, our six rooms and suites offer a uniquely intimate and exclusive experience.

 

Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by our friendly staff and welcomed to your luxurious accommodations. Each morning, wake up to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and indulge in our deluxe breakfast, expertly prepared by our in-house chef. Our Social Hour, held daily at 4pm, offers complimentary beer, wine, and cocktails. It is the perfect way to relax after a day of exploring.

Our property boasts a range of luxurious amenities, including in-room coffee service delivered to your door every morning. At breakfast, enjoy French Press coffee made with organic Kona beans flown in from Hawaii. We offer turn-down service each night and you can choose to indulge in an optional nightcap before retiring to your plush bedding.

Immerse yourself in history as you take in our antique furnishings and artwork from the late 1800s, seamlessly blending modern comfort with vintage elegance.

 

Explore Galveston in style with our vintage Model T golf cart available for rent, or take advantage of our optional rides to the port for just $30 per couple. And for those embarking on a cruise, rest easy knowing that you can park your car with us for free while you're away. Choose from our optional romance, anniversary, and birthday packages, complete with flowers, chocolates, truffles, or champagne, waiting in your room or suite upon arrival.

FREE CRUISE PARKING

Guests that are taking a cruise out of Galveston can park their vehicle at The Mansion for free. Port rides are available to the port for only $30 per couple.

The Sealy Suite

The Hitchcock Suite

This suite is dedicated to Alfred Hitchcock, the renowned filmmaker and director. (It was formerly known as the Frankfurt Room). According to local legend, and as told to us by the previous owners, he once stayed at the Mansion and was sitting on the balcony of this suite. He was inspired by the birds he saw perched on a nearby telephone wire to create his famous film "The Birds."

The Balinese Room

Experience the epitome of luxury in The Balinese Room, formerly known as the Munich Room. Immerse yourself in the historic charm of Galveston while enjoying the quiet balcony. Unwind in a plush king-size bed outfitted with 850 thread count linens and indulge in your favorite shows on the 50-inch TV or stay connected with complimentary Wi-Fi. Adorned with exquisite antique furnishings, The Balinese Room offers a timeless elegance that transports you to a bygone era of opulence. The Balinese Room was one of the most famous nightclub and casinos in the country, known for attracting celebrities and gangsters during the Prohibition era. Many famous entertainers performed at The Balinese Room, including Frank Sinatra, the Rat Pack, Bob Hope, and Duke Ellington. Despite being damaged by several hurricanes over the years, the Balinese Room remained a popular attraction until it was destroyed by Hurricane Ike in 2008.

The Hendley Room

Joseph Edwin Hendley was a prominent Galveston lawyer and politician who played a significant role in shaping the city's history. Hendley is best known for his contributions to the development of Galveston's harbor and shipping industry, which helped establish the city as a major port. He also played a key role in the establishment of Galveston's public school system and served as the city's mayor from 1879 to 1882.
